If you wanted to start a blog, you would normally sign up for one of the many free blogs and get going. Or maybe if you were a bit more technically minded, you could install one of the many great blogging software packages around on your server and use that.
Did I do that? Oh no. I had to go and write from scratch my own retarded software which probably has less than a tenth of the features that WordPress has. It doesn't have RSS feeds, tags or even a way to upload images. It isn't XHTML 1.0 compliant. Heck, I doubt it's compliant with any HTML specification that's ever been written.
So why do I do it? I guess in part it is because most other software packages are a lot slower (due to the extra features) and don't run too well on my crappy web server. Maybe I even enjoy building up this stupid website and adding features to it every now and then.
But I think the real reason is that I'm a control freak and I want to have control over every feature and aspect of my website. There. I said it. But I'm not going to stop
